Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 31, 2026
Pinpoint helps university and college students find housing and roommates. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your name, email address, an account identifier, and your profile picture if you have one.
You may add profile information such as your budget, move-in dates, the areas you're searching, and notes about what you're looking for.
We store the content you choose to submit, including:
- housing listings you post
- roommate posts you publish
- photos you upload
- contact details you add to a listing, such as a contact name, email address, or phone number
- messages you send to other users through Pinpoint
- likes and comments you add to roommate posts
- any other details you enter into your profile or your posts
If you choose “Use my location,” your device's location is used to select the nearest supported city. We do not store your device location. We may infer an approximate city from your IP address to pick a default map view.
If you turn on notifications, we store a device token from Apple so we can send you push notifications about new messages. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
We do not collect payment information, your phone's contacts, health information, or advertising identifiers.
How We Use Information
We use this information only to:
- create and manage your account
- display your profile and the content you submit
- operate housing and roommate discovery features
- let you create, edit, and remove your own listings
- let you contact other users through the app
- send you notifications about new messages, if you turn them on
- keep Pinpoint secure and reliable, and to provide support
We do not use your information for advertising or marketing.
Service Providers
Pinpoint relies on a small number of providers:
- Google: for sign-in, and for AI features that generate listing insights and draft intro messages.
- Supabase: for authentication, database storage, and file storage.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers that run the Pinpoint website and app.
These providers process information only to support Pinpoint's operation, and are subject to their own privacy terms.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal information. We do not use personal information for cross-app tracking.
Pinpoint is a discovery app, so some information is visible to others by design. Your name, profile picture, listings, roommate posts, comments, likes, uploaded photos, and any contact details you put in a listing can be seen by other users. Uploaded photos are stored at public web addresses. Please avoid sharing sensitive information in public profiles, listings, roommate posts, or uploaded photos, and use care when sending information to other users through messages.
We may disclose information when the law requires it, or when it is necessary to protect Pinpoint, our users, or the public.
Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information for as long as it is needed to operate your account and the service.
You can ask us to delete your account and the personal data associated with it by emailing farhaansyedali2005@gmail.com from the address on your account.
We may keep limited information after deletion where the law requires it, or where it is needed for security, fraud prevention, or resolving a dispute.
Children
Pinpoint is intended for university and college students. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, please contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
We may update this policy. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page.
